Debra has held various positions at RCCOA over the past 15 years. After selling their Campground & Canoe Livery on the Au Sable River in Roscommon, and as a favor to an employee/friend she became an assistant cook at our St. Helen Center. It’s there that she learned she really enjoyed working with the seniors. Her friend then suggested that she apply for the Program Assistant position at the COA, This is where she worked for then Director Carolyn Moore and learned the ins and outs of the agency. She did leave the agency for a couple of years and claims that’s when she began wondering what seniors do all day at home. She spoke with Carolyn and began volunteering at the Centers. The agency didn’t have a volunteer or activity program at that time.
After volunteering for about a year, Carolyn suggested that she put a proposal together which is how the Activity Coordinator position was started and well… the rest is history. Debra says, “I am pretty sure I have the best job around. So, come into any of our Centers, enjoy a wonderful meal and stay for some fellowship and fun! Or jump in our new bus with me for an awesome adventure.”
